Plates, registration renewals (tags) and titles go to the Polk County Treasurer, 111 Court Ave., Room 154, in downtown Des Moines: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, opening at 9 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month. Appointments are highly recommended and required to transfer a title. Vehicle line: 515-286-3030. Tag renewals can be done online at IowaTaxandTags.org. The office is closed Nov. 11, Nov. 26 and 27, and Dec. 24 and 25 this year.
